A survey of backward proton and pion production in p+C interactions at beam momenta from 1 to 400 GeV/c
New data on proton and pion production in p+C interactions from the CERN PS
and SPS accelerators are used in conjunction with other available data sets to
perform a comprehensive survey of backward hadronic cross sections. This survey
covers the complete backward hemisphere in the range of lab angles from 10 to
180 degrees, from 0.2 to 1.4 GeV/c in lab momentum and from 1 to 400 GeV/c in
projectile momentum. Using the constraints of continuity and smoothness of the
angular, momentum and energy dependences a consistent description of the
inclusive cross sections is established which allows the control of the
internal consistency of the nineteen available data sets.Comment: 52 pages 47 figure

Towards a new strategy for organic milk marketing in Hungary
In Hungary, organic food market has both demand and supply oriented aspects: several times not necessary products are distributed, while the selection and volume of certain products are not satisfactory. Thus, our aim was to develop a coordinated benchmark strategy to increase the trade of organic products. To get more details on the Hungarian organic milk market, we conducted professional deep interviews and simultaneously applied the âmystery shoppingâ method. Nowadays, the market of organic milk and dairy products is slowly increasing in Hungary, however, there is no available statistical data. In the selection there are mostly Hungarian originated products, but some yoghurt, milk, and butter assortments are imported. Partial responsibility belongs to small sale shopsâ habit of risk-avoidance. Without a proper selection of products, stores are unable to satisfy consumersâ needs; thus they focus on pushing certain products to increase demand. According to our results, âlow price categoryâ, âlocal/regional productâ, and âprestige productâ strategies with attached in-store marketing elements are able to reverse the effects of an unfavourable marketing process
Gershgorin disks for multiple eigenvalues of non-negative matrices
Gershgorin's famous circle theorem states that all eigenvalues of a square
matrix lie in disks (called Gershgorin disks) around the diagonal elements.
Here we show that if the matrix entries are non-negative and an eigenvalue has
geometric multiplicity at least two, then this eigenvalue lies in a smaller
disk. The proof uses geometric rearrangement inequalities on sums of higher
dimensional real vectors which is another new result of this paper
Diagrammatic Elicitation: Defining the Use of Diagrams in Data Collection
The use of graphic representations of experience and the social environment in the data collection process is an emerging approach. The terms diagramming, mapping and drawing are often used interchangeably, with no common interdisciplinary understanding of what they mean. The lack of a unifying terminology has resulted in simultaneous but separate developments undermining a more coherent approach to this emergent method. By defining what a diagram is and examining where diagramming fits amongst other data collection approaches, this paper proposes the term diagrammatic elicitation to refer to the use of diagrams in the data collection process. Two subcategories of this approach include: (a ) participant - led diagrammatic elicitation, where participants create original diagrams and (b ) researcher - led diagrammatic elicitation, where the researcher draws the diagram during the data collection process for discussion or participants edit a researcher - prepared diagram. Establishing these terms will allow researchers to share best practice and developments across disciplines
Generic spectral properties of right triangle billiards
This article presents a new method to calculate eigenvalues of right triangle
billiards. Its efficiency is comparable to the boundary integral method and
more recently developed variants. Its simplicity and explicitness however allow
new insight into the statistical properties of the spectra. We analyse
numerically the correlations in level sequences at high level numbers (>10^5)
for several examples of right triangle billiards. We find that the strength of
the correlations is closely related to the genus of the invariant surface of
the classical billiard flow. Surprisingly, the genus plays and important role
on the quantum level also. Based on this observation a mechanism is discussed,
which may explain the particular quantum-classical correspondence in right
triangle billiards. Though this class of systems is rather small, it contains
examples for integrable, pseudo integrable, and non integrable (ergodic,
mixing) dynamics, so that the results might be relevant in a more general
